Inequality of Opportunity in Wealth: Unpacking the Wealth Myth of Thailand

Using three waves of Thailand Household Socio-Economic Surveys in 2006, 2011, and 2017, this paper analyzes the inequality opportunity trend over time its contribution to total wealth Thailand. The empirical results based on non-parametric parametric techniques demonstrate declining overall from 2006 2017. lower bound estimation caused by external factors beyond an individual’s control (i.e., circumstances) accounted for 16–17% compared with only 11–14% Based our analysis, higher education could be one crucial elements narrowing differences individuals’ wealth.
